The bluebird is my favourite literary symbol.
It’s symbolic of happiness; yet, it always seems to make me weep. I think the weeping is sparked by the fact that happiness is represented by a bird, as birds are symbolic of freedom. At the same time, however, death can also be symbolized by a bird (crow), as well as the coming of spring (cardinal), and peace (dove), etc.
